Thousands of Lives

He’s done it!

Soon, he’ll probably forget everything. Why should newborn baby need every memory of Ethelbert Brock. For that little while he could really enjoy… life.

He hated that word. It meant only never-ending chain of disasters, that child, later man named Ethelbert Brock, had to endure. Troubles in kindergarten, mockery from his classmates in elementary school, sub-par jobs with arrogant co-workers that somehow got promoted first. An unfaithful wife and lovers that only cared about his money. Government that does everything to make him feel even worse.

He lived through all of it without giving up.

All because he believed in reincarnation. He hoped that that it wasn't linear, that he’ll be born again as a boss of one of his bosses and will make his life living hell. Or like a superintendent. Or Genghis-Khan or sole dictator of a planet. Thousands of lives were waiting for him.

He will get his revenge. Even though he may not remember his prior existence, that feeling will stay with him and he will reach perfection.

Watch out world. Watch out people!

He heard distant voice of the obstetrician and another one that belonged to tired woman, his new mother.

“It’s a boy. And he looks healthy.”

Reincarnation really doesn’t have to be linear.

“How you said he will be named, Mrs. Brock?”

“Ethelbert.”

Welcome to my world. For the longest time I couldn’t think of right name for this place, so I left it without one. Amongst things you can find here are attempts of science fiction and fantasy stories, my collection of gods, bogeymen and monsters and also articles about things that had me interested, be it for a while or for years. (There is more of this, sadly not in English but in Czech, on www.fext.cz)
